Children should do more exercise « Thread Started on Jul 22, 2006, 10:17am »
Children should be doing at least 90 minutes of exercise every day to keep healthy, according to a new study. The researchers found kids who did more exercise would be less likely to have heart problems when they get older.
At the moment the UK government says kids should do one hour of exercise a day, but a different study to this one said not many children do that much.
Over the last 20 years the number of children who are dangerously overweight has tripled.
The experts don't think you should be doing 90 minutes exercise in one go, but you should spread it out.
They suggest things like walking or cycling to school as well as running around at lunchtime and after school too.
The government wants all school pupils to receive two hours of PE and sport a day by 2010.
